Caprylyl Glycol is an ortho-positioned alkyl diol and an excellent moisturizer with good compatibility.

It features two hydroxyl groups, which allow it to mix well with a variety of other chemical substances. 

It also provides effective antimicrobial properties with minimal irritation. 

Caprylyl Glycol can be used as a preservative and moisturizing agent in "preservative-free" products. It works even better when combined with other preservative alternatives, such as Hydroxyacetophenone and 1,2-Hexanediol. 

Caprylyl Glycol, also known as 1,2-octanediol or octyl diol, with the chemical formula C₈H₁₈O₂, 

is a colorless liquid or white solid with a relatively high melting point (36-38°C) and boiling point (131-132°C/10 mmHg). 

It is stable under standard temperature and pressure conditions.
