Principles
- When a normal sheath heater is heated in water, the pressure and the heat variations generated inside the pipe lead to continuous contraction and inflation, which crack the welding line of the pipe and finally rupture the surface. To restrain such rupture, the heated tube is reduced to the dual wall of the inner tube and the outer tube.
- Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and the acid generated by
ionic reaction from heated water accelerate oxidation decay of the heating
element surface. The method to prevent this phenomenon is to coat the surface
with enamel. The nature of the enamel is glass, which has strong acid resistance
and salt resistance, thus can protect the surface from decay. The suitable
materials are SUS316L, and steel pipes. The standard outer diameters of the
pipes are 11 and 8.0. As the flange or bracket material, SUS304, brass, bronze,
and steel sheets are recommended. However, it can be assembled to a heat resistant
resin board depending on the material of the heating element.
