CEO J. Maria, with a master’s in cosmetology, dedicated her professional career to cosmetics research. 

In 2014, a sudden allergic reaction left her skin red and swollen, leaving her unable to use skincare products. 

Since then, J. Maria has focused her research on natural ingredients and clean alternatives. 

At TOUN28, our farm supplies many of the plants that go into our products. 100% natural with zero chemicals. 

Our goal is to harvest all key ingredients directly by 2030.

Until now, we have been paying for cosmetic containers and not for cosmetic products. In most cases, the raw material costs are only 2 to 10% of all. An estimated 60 to 98% of costs are used for producing containers and marketing.

TOUN28’s ‘PutOn’ products pay 90% of costs for their organic raw ingredients, and only 10% for containers.

On top of everything, about two billion animals are being killed annually as the plastic garbage became overflown on the land and the sea, and it has been shown that especially the plastic containers from cosmetic industry took a major role increating this disaster. Furthermore, the irony of “green bottles” from those companies who advertise them as eco-friendly are in fact 0% recyclable as soon as they color them green.

Team Toun28 wants to lead a movement that goes beyond the superficial level of protecting the environment, so we decided to invent a biodegradable containers made out of paper. It was a difficult journey to make this happen, as manufacturing companies refused to help while being pessimistic about the durability. There were no precedents that we could follow, and people even mentioned that it is a Nobel Prize idea, while not so realistic.

We went through 500 times of failures, but finally succeeded and achieved the title of the world’s first paper recyclable package. It is still dependent on a small plastic cap, yet our team continues to put on effort to make it 100% plastic free.

It may not beas fancy looking as shiny bottles or may not as convenient. However, each participant for this movement will help this philosophy to thrive, and eventually will serve the nature.
