EASY-STIM

helps people with dysphagia to more easily swallow food. Dysphagia, or difficult in swallowing, affects over 11% of people over 50, 16% of people over 60, and half of those aged over 70. It can lead to malnutrition, dehydration, and bacterial lung infection. With our handheld device, users attach electrodes to their throat, which stimulates the muscles necessary for swallowing. This dramatically improves swallowing and helps build necessary muscles for eating.

EASY-STIM detects the patient's intention to swallow and controls the sequence of the necessary muscle contractions and the stimulation timing to maintain the patient's best eating experience.

Patients suffering from dysphagia do not only lose the joy of eating but also are unable to consume water or nutrients, forcing them to suffer from dehydraion or malnutrition.

This may also cause pneumonia or repiratory complications due to the aspiration of food into the respiratory tract.

Our device is composed of a handheld controller and four electrodes to help stimulate the muscles. Conventional 2-channels devices are one of the most common therapeutic methods for dysphagia, but they only exercise the swallowing muscles and have no effect on the actual act of swallowing.

Our device provides what we call a sequential 4-channel neuromsucular electrical stimulation. This means that muscles necessary for swallowing are stimulated in a time sequence of food passing, which algorighm have proven in our clinical studies. SAMKIM sequentially stimulates the swallowing muscles and causes a normal laryngeal motion. Users can independently adjust the pulse duration, pulse frequency, interphase interval, and stimulus intensity for each electrode.

Immediately after EASY-STIM application, swallowing function in people with dysphagia improved around 50%. When people consistently received our device for 2-3 weeks, they experienced 1.8-fold more clinical improvement in the swallowing function than convential 2-channel devices. This improvement has proved by our clinical studies. We had our device's intellectual property rights. Users can use the device not only in hospitals but also at home.

RS REHAB has designed a EASY-STIM for both the home and daily life that are safe, comfortable, and easy to use. 

Because most people with dysphagia are elderly, we designed the product to be "senior-friendly." Our product lasts for about 20 hours in terms of battery capacity.

And, if the electrical stimulation time is set for each channel, it will be set automatically from the next time it is used.
