Massoia Bark (Cryptocaria massoia) oil is being used in seasoning, traditional medicine and fragrance ingredient.

C-10 Massoia lactone is a major constituent of its essential oil which has been proven as the antibacterial principle and has the ability to increase the phagocytic index of mice macrophage.

In food industry, massoia bark CO2-extract is used to flavor food and beverages. Its sweet fragrance is reminiscent of coconut flavor.

It is used for flavoring e.g. butter, milk and dairy products, bakeries, confectionery, candies, ice cream, popcorn, cereals and dietary products.

Massoia lactone has a pleasant odor which is described as sweet, coconutty, lactonic, creamy and milky. A concentration of 20-50 ppm gives products already a creamy, coconut, green, and slightly fruity taste.

Company introduction: Van Aroma was founded in 2006 with a mission to PROVIDE OPTIMAL QUALITY INDONESIAN NATURAL ESSENTIAL OILS TO THE GLOBAL MARKET.

We setup our first facility in the city of Padang, West Sumatra. This is where the collection and standardisation of essential oils initially took place. At the time of our genesis, Patchouli Oil and Nutmeg Oil were the only two products we dealt with. Our progressive planning quickly led us to expand our services to products such as Clove Oil, Vetiver Oil and several other natural extracts from Java and Sulawesi. In 2009, we added our second facility in Jakarta to keep up with the growing demand of our products.

This helped us in focusing on the production of further refined products like the many different derivatives of clove and patchouli oil. Today we have expanded our workforce and boardenend our infrastructural capabilities to include reaction, solvent extraction and steam distillation unit.
