Barite is a non-metallic mineral with the the composition of BaSO4. The color of barite is related to how much pure it is. The pure Barite is white in color and due the impurities the color may vary from gray to light red. It has the Mohr Hardness of 3 to 3.5. Its density is related to the purity as well and due to high density of Barite in comparison with other minerals it is used as a weighting agent in drilling mud, whenever it is necessary. Barite is non-toxic and non-magnetic and chemically stable and insoluble in water and hydrochloric acid.

Barite is a mineral raw material that can be used in different industrail uses, such as drilling mud weighting agent, Lithopone pigment, barium compound, filling industry, anti-ray cement, mortar and concrete etc.
Barite can be used as a filler is paper-making industry, rubber and plastic industry and rubber and plastic products.
