❍ Introduction

Sparassis crispa·Red Ginseng Suohkgo is made based on Kyungokgo materials which had been used from the very beginning in 7,000 prescriptions included in the Donguibogam. Red ginseng is used instead of ginseng and Asparagi radix, Liriopis tuber, Lycii fructus, Cynanchi wilfordii radix and Sparassis crispa strains are added to promote efficacy. It can be safely taken by anyone.

According to the Donguibogam, Kyungokgo supplements a material basis and bone marrow, removes all types of consumption, satisfies the whole mental process, controls appetite by taking it several times a day, and recaptures lost youth. Therefore, its effects are extraordinarily diverse. During the time of emperor Yongle of the Ming dynasty, at the Taeuiwon convention the emperor was given Asparagi radix, Liriopis tuber and Lycium chinese to which he bestowed the name, Iksuyoungjingo. If Iksuyoungjingo is better than Kyungokgo, Sparassis crispa·Red Ginseng Suohkgo is a health food product beyond the level of Iksuyoungjingo.

To make Sparassis crispa·Red Ginseng Suohkgo according to the method suggested in the Donguibogam, Red Ginseng(5.0%), Poria cocas Wolf(10.0%), Asparagi radix(0.5%), Liriopis tuber(0.5%), Lycii fructus(0.5%) and Sparassis crispa strains(5.0%) are pulverized and Rhemanniae radix juice(35.9%) and honey(42.1%) are added. The mixture is put into a pot and cooked in a double boiler for three days. It is cooled down for a day with aging, and then it is cooked in a double boiler for a day again. This process is sedulously performed.
