Paprika

│ DESCRIPTION │

Paprika is an annual plant belonging to the Solanaceae family. Capsicum genus and Annuum species are two of the six pepper subspecies whose type is a typical sweet pepper with twisted pepper featuring minimal impure taste and various colors. Thus, paprika is very widely used in salads or dishes requiring colors.

06. Vitamin C

• Function: Prevents and in many cases, cures --a wide range of common and/or lethal diseases, notably the common cold and heart disease. Vitamin C lowers blood pressure and cholesterol levels, helps thin the blood, and protects it against oxidation and works in close synergy with vitamin E. Vitamin C also helps prevent atherosclerosis by strengthening the artery walls through its participation in the synthesis of collagen and by preventing the undesirable adhesion of white blood cells to damaged arteries. Adequate intake of the vitamin is very effective in protecting against stroke and heart attack.
• Deficiency: Scurvy is an avitaminosis resulting from the lack of vitamin C since, without this vitamin, the synthesized collagen is too unstable to perform its function. Scurvy leads to the formation of liver spots on skin, spongy gums, and bleeding from all mucous membranes. The spots are concentrated on the thighs and legs, and a person with the ailment looks pale and feels depressed, not to mention partially immobilized. Advanced scurvy is characterized by open, suppurating wounds, loss of teeth, and eventually death.

07. Kalium

• Function: As an essential mineral macronutrient in human nutrition, Kalium is the major cation (positive ion) inside animal cells; thus, it is important in maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance in the body.
  Kalium is also important in allowing muscle contraction and sending of all nerve impulses in animals.
