Product Information
Isocyanate
Isocynate is an organic chemical compound that contains an isocyanate group in its molecules. It is used as a key ingredient, together with polyol, for making PU. Materials, such as MDI and TDI, are used in manufacturing polyurethane foam. Polymeric MDI is liquid at normal temperature and its functionality is 2.3–3.0. The product will have unique properties depending on viscosity, responsiveness, and %NCO. Its viscosity is determined by the average molecular weight and the %NCO content.
Polymeric MDI is widely used for making expanded polyurethane foam applicable for making refrigerators, containers, sprayers, building insulations, and car interiors. Monomeric MDI is mainly used for nonexpanded polyurethane, such as spandex, leather, elastomer, coating, and sealant.
The products are sold in 250-kilogram steel drum units.
Their proper storage temperature range is 20 to 35_C. Moisture is not allowed to be mixed into the container so extra attention is required. If possible, seal the container using nitrogen gas. When working while using MDI, it is required to wear proper protective gear and if it is necessary, install an air ventilation system or wear a gas mask. After work is completed, users must clean themselves using soapy water and wash their working clothes before putting them on again.
