Secondly, comparison several asphalt design methods, analysis the differences of these methods in selecting the optirrium asphalt content. Thirdly, aiming at the present problem that fewer researches are on the inter-relationship among the volumetric parameters and further application in the hot mix asphalt mixture design, this paper discussed the conceptions of the universal volumetric chart and mixture design chart. The results indicate that the universal volumetric chart is a useful method in hot mix asphalt mixture's design and quality control. This paper discusses as followed systemically: the gradation optimization, mixture design methods, index evaluate system. This will do helpful to the development of the asphalt pavement in our nation.
