Tempered Low-Iron Glass VS Epoxy

The clear exterior coating of a photovolatic cell is responsible for protection and for the transmission of light onto the cells. Lower grade solar chargers will commonly utilize and epoxy or acrylic based cover, which can significantly reduce the absorption of light reaching the photovolatic cells beneath. Also epoxy or acrylic based covers may show signs of sun damage and yellowing after prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. The soladec utilizes strengthened tempered glass specially produced with a low-iron content to maximize transmission of the entire full spectrum of natural light. This allows for optimized efficiency and allows for more light to be converted into usable power.
