In year 1999, Zuhrah Pelangi Sdn. Bhd. was tasked with the operation and management by Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) for their 128 hectares silk farm located at Sematan District, Kuching Province. The Sematan Silk Farm is currently the only silk farm in Malaysia. In Year 2000, Zuhrah has engaged two sericulture experts from Suzhou University, China for providing intensive technology transfer and training in silk farm development. Beginning of year 2003, under the encouragement and guidance of our beloved Chief Minister of Sarawak, Zuhrah has decided to develop the downstream operations. Zuhrah invited two skilled silk quilt technicians from Jiangsu Province,China to provide intensive training and guiding for silk quilt production. After 6 months training, our staff has mastered the production of 100% high quality silk quilts for the market. In December 2003, the Chief Minister of Sarawak has officially launched the 100% High Quality Silk Quilt for Zuhrah in Kuching.

Zuhrah has further invested RM5 Million in building a state of the art factory producing Hand-drawn Batik and Digital Printed Textile located at Desa Senadin Industrial Park, Miri, Sarawak. The factory is carrying the brand name of “SARTEX” for Zuhrah. We have hired a team of fashion and graphic designers, as well as engaged a well experienced staff for traditional hand drawn batik. The RM1 million digital printing production lines that we have invested can produce various types of highly sophisticated textiles, in order to provide the best service and courtesy to our guests and visitors. We are ready to work closely with Miri City Council and Sarawak Tourism Board to promote Miri alliance with the vision of healthy and colorful Miri Resort City.
