It is soluble in dimethylformamide(DME), slightly soluble in acetone, chloroform, methanol, and ethanol, and insoluble in water and ethyl ether.
Nosiheptide is active against Gram positive microorganisms, e.g., Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, S. pyogenes hemolyticus, S. viridans, Lactobacillus caser, and Bacillus subtilis. When added to feed at concentrations of 0.6-20 ppm it promotes chicken and pig growth and improves feed conversion ratio and feed efficiency. It is practically unabsorbed from the digestive tract and is recovered almost entirely in the feces.
