Interpretation of Result

Bacteria are too small to see with the naked eye, but reproduce rapidly in proper growth condition and form a few milimeters of colonies. You can see the colonies with your eyes. |
Growing bacteria form red colonies as above, because the medium for detection of total aerobes contain a staining redox dye (2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride, TTC) which indicate red-color in reduction of tetrazolium salts.
Count numbers of red colonies, and record it as the number of total aerobes.
Record of Result
Record the result as the tables below. If you get the result of poor hygiene, check again after action for improvement of hygiene. Periodic monitoring helps your home keep good hygiene conditions.
