Haerim Fucoidan was founded on a pure, clean sea environment with the full support of the Korean government that confidently believed the possibility of the new material.
Wando of South Korea is a clean sea area boasting beautiful scenery where the National Marine Park is located, and this island features the ria coast and elvan rock, making the island an area blessed with nature for seaweed to grow.
70% of Korean seaweed is produced in Wando thanks to this geographical environment.
In this clean sea area Wando, Haerim Fucoidan was founded in 2005 by the $5 million Fucoidan production project of the South Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Jeollanam-do and Wando-gun.

Haerim Fucoidan produces 10 tons of high-quality fucoidan a year in a global-scale factory featuring a one-stop system from raw materials to finished products using the company’s unique technology.
In addition, through the company-affiliated research center, we conduct research on next-generation substances such as fucoxanthin besides fucoidan, have unparalleled technology, and feature a mass production system to produce products.
1. Use of seaweed roots collected from the clean sea areas in Korea [Ensured radiological safety]
All seaweed roots Haerim Fucoidan uses are collected from the clean waters of Korea without exception. The sea areas such as Wando, Goheung, and Jindo, where Korean seaweeds are produced, rarely contain pollutants, and boast the world's cleanest water quality without radioactive problems and are tested for radioactivity every year. It is difficult to find raw materials that have been verified like Haerim's fucoidan in respect of the radiation safety of marine products.
Fucoidan of Haerim Fucoidan uses only raw materials produced in the clean sea of Korea.
2. High sulfate group

Haerim's fucoidan has a very high content of sulfuric group with around 30%, which is regarded as an indicator of the quality and functionality of fucoidan. This shows that the fucoidan extracted from Korean seaweed roots is considerably better, given that the content of sulfuric group in Japanese fucoidan, which is mainly made of seaweed called mozuku, is only about 13%.

Highly refined fucoidan made with ultra-fine filter
An ethanol precipitation method using alcohol is the general manufacturing method, and this is called crude fucoidan because of lots of impurities. However, Haerim Fucoidan only manufactures products through repeated dialysis using UF (Ultrafiltration) without using alcohol. Therefore, Haerim's fucoidan, which hardly contains impurities during the production of fucoidan and boasts the highest quality regarding refinement, produces the cleanest and purest results in the production.
4. Perfect safety

Haerim Fucoidan completed the toxicity test in five parts of self-produced raw materials through a GLP organization, ChemOn in 2008. As a result, it proved perfect safety in five parts such as ▲ single dose oral toxicity test ▲ 13-week repeated oral toxicity test ▲ reverse mutation assay ▲ chromosomal aberration test ▲ micronucleus test. In addition, the clinical trial conducted by the Chonbuk National University Hospital proved it is perfectly safe.
5. Diverse applicability

In addition to the commonly used fucoidan, the applicability of Haerim's fucoidan has been widened by adding low molecular fucoidan, ultra-high molecular fucoidan, and smell and color removed fucoidan to the product list. Therefore, it is like a new material that can be applied not only to health food but also to various industries including cosmetics and beauty. Haerim's fucoidan will be the best solution to apply fucoidan to the product under development.
6. Continued evaluation of efficacy
Clinical trial of Helicobacter by Chonbuk National University Hospital / Immunity enhancement test by Catholic University of Korea / Immunity boost test by Jeju National University
Haerim Fucoidan is continuing research work to evaluate the actual health efficacy of ingredients produced by the company. A clinical trial was conducted on the alleviation effect of Helicobacter pylori of Haerim’s fucoidan by Chonbuk National University Hospital, and research on the immunity enhancement function of fucoidan was conducted by Catholic University of Korea, Jeju National University, Dongeui University, and Korea University. The research confirmed the good efficacy of fucoidan produced by Haerim. Haerim will conduct more detailed research through additional human application tests in the future.
