KwangMyung Electric developed, manufactured, and sold the gas insulated switchgear (GIS) for the first time in Korea through the technical cooperation with Simemens of Germany in 1990, which has been used for domestic electric power system. The present product has been designed and manufactured by the insertion of SF6 gas of insulated medium or eco-friendly dry air with excellent characteristic of insulation and anti deterioration in an independent container for each phase, which can be used semi-permanently without any effect on the change in each device by eternal environment. It consists of a circuit breaker, a three-step switch (disconnecting switch, grounding switch), and a main bus bar. 

Each device has an excellent performance in the cutoff of fault current at the time of usual load current and abnormality but also a high durability. Compared to 3-phase enclosed GIS, there is a little spread of accident especially with a short time to recover (repair or exchange) after the accident. Based on the excellent technology of history and tradition, we have put a great effort on R & D and tried to supply the products of high quality and high reliability fit to the customers' demand.

1. High Reliability

The product can be used semi permanently as SF6 gas or dry air is filled in the unit separated by device and phase for excellent 

current flow and insulation against deterioration than those of 3-phase enclosed type.

2. Safety

As it is built in an aluminum tank with the grounding on main device and live wire, its safety has been secured to prevent the human body 

from a contact at the time of its operation and inspection.

3. Shortened Construction Period

As the unit of equipment composition is standardized, it is available to combine the equipment simply at the time of system design, 

which will shortens the periods of manufacturing and installation.

4. Actuator

The reliability has been procured with the application of PMA (Permanent Magnetic Actuator)

5. Simple Repair and Inspection

As each device is installed in a separated container with the insulation for gas, the product is not affected by external environment 

such as humidity, dust and temperature. Inspection, maintenance and repair are easy for each device.

6. Installation Area Reduction

The area needed for installation and operation is significantly small as it is compact compared to that of common equipment.

7. Eco-Friendliness

The product has contributed to the reduction of greenhouse gas through the application of a dry air of eco- friendly insulation medium.

8. ARC Flash Test

We have reinforced the protection of human body at the accident by ARC flash.
