2,4-DTBP is a high volume di butyl phenol that is produced by reacting excess isobutylene with phenol. This product is used as a raw material intermediate to make antioxidants, insecticides. This product can also be directly used as antioxidants in certain fuels.
Applications:
2,4-DTBP is used as an intermediate to manufacture antioxidants that are used in polymers like polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene and other products. Antioxidants like AO 168, PEPHQ are some of the main products made using 2,4-DTBP.
2,4-DTBP is used as an intermediate to manufacture UV light stabilizers.
2,4-DTBP is used as a raw material to make intermediates like 5-amino-2,4-di tertiary butyl phenol that is used in manufacturing dyes.
