Features
Nuclear vessel is designed to with stand high temperature and pressure in order to provide a space for storing nuclear fuel and nuclear chain reaction. It includes the reactor internals and the lower part of its cylinder body is welded with a bottom head.
The removable closure head is tight sealed with studs, nuts and washers to provide access for fuel reloading and inspection.

Closure Head Assembly | |
The upper part of nuclear vessel is made of a closure head, which can be opened/closed with studs for fuel reloading, and the head is welded with 83 CEDM nozzles and one vent line. | |
Inlet & Outlet Nozzle | |
The reactor vessel has four inlet nozzles and two outlet nozzles. The primary reactor coolant enters the reactor vessel through 4 inlet nozzles from 4 reactor coolant pumps and flows upward so that it could be heated by the chain reaction of the fuel core. The coolant exits through two outlet nozzles to two steam generators. | |
Bottom Head Assembly | |
The bottom head assembly of nuclear vessel is welded with nozzles and flow baffle for passing ICI (In-Core Instrument), and it`s installed with a'Core Stop Lug'to absorb the drop impact of nuclear fuel. | |
Reactor Vessel Flange | |
The reactor vessel flange is welded to the upper part of reactor vessel, and there are 54 stud holes to mount the closure head with studs. Inside of the flange is composed of bore and keyway to support reactor vessel internals, and the surface touching the closure head is compressed with a metal ring, which acts as a sealing gasket to prevent coolant leakage. | |
Flow Baffle | |
The cylinder-shaped flow baffle is made of inconel with countless number of holes and strengthened by two reinforcement rings. It`s designed to stabilize the flow distribution to the reactor core and prevent turbulence by controlling the pressure distribution at the lower part of reactor vessel. The flow baffle is welded at eight points on the bottom head assembly of reactor vessel. |
