The Synchronika is a dual boiler espresso machine from ECM that takes cues from the design of their popular home line of espresso machines while featuring a number of technical and aesthetic improvements. The story begins with its polished steel housing and its anthracite powder-coated base. On the inside, the machine brews with a pair of insulated stainless steel boilers that are monitored and regulated by a Gicar PID controller. To ensure near silent brewing, the Synchronika is equipped with a Fluid-O-Tech rotation pump and can be plumbed directly into a water line to become a permanent fixture in your home.

Polished Steel Housing

From the rounded edges of the drip tray and cup grid to the engraved steam and hot water wands, the Synchronika is is a site to behold. Housed in polished stainless steel, your eyes will be drawn to the striking black base of the machine which has been powder coated in anthracite.

One-Piece Frame

ECM avoids the flimsy uncertainty of welding, instead using a one-piece steel frame that runs the length of the machine all the way into the drip tray.

Multi-Tiered Drip Tray

To accommodate for cups of varying sizes, the drip tray features a removable center platform to allow for greater clearance under the portafilter.

Tall Legs

Standing tall in 0.75" legs, the elevated posture adds to the Synchronika's much deserved esteem.

Dual Stainless Steel Boilers

The Synchronika brews and steams with a pair of insulated stainless steel boilers. Brewing with two boilers helps to ensure temperature stability and allows you to brew and steam simultaneously. When not in use, the steam boiler can be switched off to preserve power.

E61 Brew Group and Thermosyphon System

Renowned for its contributions to maintaining temperature stability in professional grade espresso machines, the E61 is constantly heated with water from the thermosyphon system. The solid brass E61 also features a pre-infusion cylinder to wet your grounds with low pressure water prior to brewing to aid in the extraction process.

PID and Shot Timer

Located above the power switch, the PID temperature controller can be used to monitor and adjust the temperature in both the brew and steam boiler. In addition to temperature adjustment, the PID also doubles as a shot timer that switches on when the machine begins brewing. As an additional feature, the PID can also be programmed to alert users to clean the brew group at predetermined intervals and can be switched off entirely if desired.

Rotary Pump and Silent Operation

The hallmark many great espresso machines, rotary pumps are considerably quieter than their vibrating counterparts. ECM takes additional steps to reduce noise with the sound absorbing design of the machines.

Water Line Connection and Reservoir

Depending on how your kitchen is configured, the Synchronika can draw water from its 3 liter reservoir, or be directly plumbed into a water line for a constant supply. To select your preferred water source, the machine is fitted with a switch located behind the drip tray.

If you plan on connecting your machine to your water line, we strongly recommend outfitting it with a water filtration system to extend its longevity and improve the quality of your espresso.

Insulated Steam and Hot Water Wands

To help prevent accidental burns, both the steam and hot water wands have been insulated to keep them from getting too hot too quickly. As an additional measure, each wand is fitted with a rubber elbow that allows for safe manipulation and positioning. The steam wand sports a two-hole tip, ideal for frothing milk for lattes and cappuccinos. The hot water wand can dispense water for tea, cocoa, Americanos, and more.

Angled "Quick Steam" Valves

For improved movement, the steam and hot water valves have been fitted at 70° angles for improved movement and positioning. The levers for both steam and hot water can be throttled for temporary operation or locked in place for constant pressure.

Balanced Portafilters

A hallmark of ECM's espresso machines are their ergonomic portafilters. The weighted end offsets the weight of the basket, keeping you from having to overcompensate with your wrist. On par with commercial grade machines, the portafilters are made of chrome-plated brass for increased temperature stability.
