Vitrified Diamond Grinding Wheel for Carbide Tools

Carbide has excellent characteristics of high hardness, wear resistance, high strength and corrosion resistance, especially high hardness and wear resistance. With the development of science and technology, carbide is the best tools material, instead of the traditional high-speed steel, is widely used for lanes, milling cutter, planer, etc.. There are scholars put forward the 'grinding instead of cutting' concept, quality of the surface processing of the alloy will be made a higher demand.

Vitrified diamond grinding wheel has high strength, good heat resistance, cutting sharp, high grinding efficiency, is not easy to heat and jam when grinding, thermal expansion is small, maintain good shape, easy to control the processing accuracy. Compared to the resin diamond grinding wheel, that solved the problem of low grinding efficiency , poor shape retention, abrasive itself deformed of resin diamond grinding wheel when grinding.

At present, for the grinding of carbide cutting tools, most of manufacturers choose resin bond  diamond grinding wheel. Although we can get the grinding results we want, but the grinding efficiency is low. For resin diamond grinding wheel, the general grit is 100-120# for rough processing. For vitrified diamond grinding wheel, we generally use grit 120-150 mesh size for rough processing. It has higher metal cutting rate, and still can get higher surface finish. Vitrified bond agent is more firm to stick to diamond than the resin bond agent. There is a larger stomata between vitrified bond agent and abrasive grains. For the same cutting allowance, the grinding efficiency of vitrified diamond grinding wheel is 2 time than that of resin diamond grinding wheel , and it is 2-3 times of the service life of resin diamond grinding wheel .

With the continuous development of new type of materials, machining is developing to  high-quality, high precision, high efficiency and automation.With vitrified diamond grinding wheel more and more widely used, the amount is increasing. Vitrified diamond grinding wheels are used in semiconductor wafers, polycrystalline diamond compacts, diamond cutting tools, new engineering structural ceramics, gemstones, crystal, magnetic materials such as high hard and brittle materials of mechanical processing, and achieved good results.
