Product Information
Copper-Nickel
Cu70/Ni30 Alloy offers outstanding resistance to corrosion, especially in sea
water, soil erosion and abrasive fluids. Cu70/Ni30
Alloy is stronger than Cu90/Ni10 and has resistance to impingement
corrosion, biofouling etc. It has good ductility, high strength and low
temperature coefficient of electric resistance. The content of nickel in the
copper-nickel alloy enables it to retain its properties over the high
temperatures.
Corrosion
resistance Properties of Cu70/Ni30 alloy
The copper-nickel alloy has great resistance to seawater corrosion
and biofouling. It offers long term performance in the crevice corrosion and
good tolerance in the marine water. It has high corrosion resistance in the sluggish
or stagnant conditions that may occur while the commissioning of a plant.
The copper-nickel Cu70/Ni30
alloy has good corrosion resistance due to its security layer that is
produced when it is kept in water. It doesn’t suffer the stress corrosion
cracking. The following table shows the corrosion nature of Copper-nickel
alloys in the seawater (heat exchanger service)

Applications of Cu70/Ni30 alloy
Seawater condenser system and desalination plants:
The excellent resistance to sea water corrosion makes the copper-nickel Cu70/Ni30 alloy useful in the sea water condensers and desalination plants and
pipe working in the chemical plants.
Automotive applications: Because the copper-nickel alloy Cu70/Ni30
doesn’t need surface protection, it provides additional security therefore it
is commonly used in the brake and hydraulic suspension systems. It is also used
in cooling systems in the automobiles like cars and other commercial vehicles.
Marine Engineering: Excellent resistance to
biofouling and sea water corrosion provided by copper-nickel Cu70/Ni30
alloy
makes it highly useful in the various marine applications including cladding
for ship hulls, legs of oil rig platforms and sea water intake screens.
