What is turnover?
It is the phenomenon where cells continue to divide moving upward from the stratum basale toward the stratum corneum, resulting in fall off as dead skin cells. It repeats in 28 day cycles
 

What is turnover cycle?
It takes 14 days for new cells to be created from the stratum basale to the stratum corneum, and it takes 14 days for cells to protect skin on the stratum corneum and fall off as dead skin cells

The turnover cycle is related to cell regeneration and moisture, and the cycle increases when regeneration effect drops or moisture lacks. In case of infants with excellent cell regeneration effects, the turnover cycle is 7 to 10 days, and as people age, the cell regeneration effect is reduced, increasing the cycle to 30 – 50 days.

‘Swallow’s nest’ is the nest made by the bird swiftlet on the cliff. The nest is in clear jelly form, and it takes about 20 days to build one. Its weight is about 5 – 15g.
