CACAO BEANS

It was assumed that Cacao was originally from Mesoamerica , it was known as "Food of the Gods" because Mayas considered Cacao even more valuable than Gold. However , in 2013 it was confirmed that the origin of Cacao is Peruvian . 5,200 years ago , Peruvians started cultivating Cacao along Cajamarca , Peru . Nowadays 60 % of Cacao varities is made in Peru . It is also the second largest producer of organic Cacao .

Cacao Beans comes from Cacao Pods , it is widely used as a food ingredient. 

• Cacao Beans have a strong dark bitter chocolate flavour. You can eat them whole - plain or dipped into raw honey. Blend them into your favourite smoothies or and them to a trail/snack mix 
• The skins are edible so you don't need to peel them first.
• The recommended daily intake is 5 to 20 whole beans.
