Bigeumdo Island of Shinan-gun is the home of salts that is about 2 hours by ship away from shore. As an island located in the clean region of Dadohae National Marine Park, it has been Korea’s best salt producer from old times because of diverse salt organisms in mud flats, including germanium. Recently, it was designated as UNESCO biosphere reserve.

Since 1947, Joowon Salt Farm has been maintaining the environment-friendly method.

The ceramic tile method is an environment-friendly method that was first introduced to Korea by my late father. It costs 5 times more for the cost of investment and maintenance expenses compared to the general salt farms. Even though the production amount is only two thirds of the general salt farms, but the salt preserves the specific ingredients of traditional salt, to be an environment-friendly salt that is outstanding in taste and flavor with abundant contents of minerals.

Joowon Salt Farm is striving to give back by adopting international standards ISO22000 (Food Safety Management System) and ISO14001 (Environmental Safety System) to put the top priority on environmental and food safety.

The Salt Farm is a brand that captured the characteristics of Korea’s salt farms, ensuring products related to salt farms and sea salts take the lead in traditional and food culture of people around the world by conducting R&D on food culture and producing diverse household items that use salt.
