1. Machinable glass ceramics Introduction:
MGC is a machinable glass ceramic material that posses outstanding engineering properties. Unlike other ceramics, MGC can be machined with ordinary metalworking tools. MGC is also a problem solving material combining the performance of a technical ceramic with the versatility of a high performance plastic. MGC has no porosity and when properly baked out, will not outgas. It is strong and rigid and, unlike high temperature plastics, will not creep or deform. MGC is also radiation resistant.
MGC can also be joined or sealed - both to itself and to other materials. - in a number of ways: metalized parts can be soldered together and brazing has proven an effective method of joining the material to various metals; epoxy produces a strong joint, and sealing glass creates a vacuum tight seal. Even a straightforward mechanical joint is possible. It can be thick film metalized using metal inks, or thin film metalized by sputtering.

Machinable Glass Ceramic has a continuous use temperature of 800ºC and a peak temperature of 1000ºC. Its coefficient of thermal expansion readily matches most metals and sealing glasses.It processes good machinability and can be lathed, milled, planed, ground, bored, incised and threaded. It also has the advantages of insulation, pore-free, high/low-temperature resistant, acid and alkali resistant and thermal impact resistant. The rods and plates we can make as follows:

Plate and bar : 300X200X53 mm MAX.
