With the rise of “Hallyu”, Korean food, also known as K-food, has been gaining attention and recognition throughout the world. Ginseng is one of the K-food that have been widely recognized world-world. Ginseng is also well known for one of Korea’s healthiest food.

Ginseng has its distinctive features according to its growing environment, geographical conditions, and the picking times. Korea has the ideal temperature zone, plenty of rain in the summer and proper coldness in the winter, etc. Korean ginseng has been considered a valuable and mystical material for thousands of years. Actually, Ginseng is extremely effective for a number of conditions, including immunity, aging issues and others.

Korean ginseng contains over 30 different types of saponin and has many other benefits that are required by the human body. The saponin are glucosides with a distinctive foaming characteristics.

Fermentation is an important part of Korean cuisine and is used in many ways of its traditional foods. Recent studies have found that fermented ginseng has numerous health benefits, including anti-aging benefits and cancer prevention. Do you know any Korean fermented food and how fermented foods are made?

Example of typical Korean fermented foods are kimchi, soy sauce, doenjang (soybean paste), gochujang (red pepper paste), cheonggukjang (fast-fermented bean paste), makgeolli (turbid rice-wine) and more. These Korean foods all consist of at least one fermented ingredients.

Fermentation refers to the activity of microorganisms, such as yeast and bacteria, breaking down carbohydrates in the absence of oxygen for energy. It’s an Enzyme.

Enzymes, a protein that plays a role as a catalyst in a variety of chemical reactions within an organism, help break down and digest foods, regenerate cells, generate energy and remove pathogenic bacterial and toxins. Then, does fermented ginseng have any positive effects on the skin in the way that fermented foods are beneficial for health?

We have fermented raw ginseng to preserve a beneficial components of ginseng longer. ASHAN SOAP has been made of the saponins and ginsenosides liquefied by the activity of microorganisms which improves the skin’s metabolism, moisturizing, elasticity and softness. The main ginseng constituents, called ginsenosides are more than doubled by the fermentation process. In follow-up testing with the fermented ginseng - and compared with unfermented ginseng of the same source - the fermented ginseng was found to be absorbed significantly better through skin tissue. These concentrated nutrients produced by this process keep the skin clear and firm.
