Brdu(5 - bromo-deoxyuridine), thymidine derivatives. It can replace thymine in the DNA
synthesis phase (S phase). Brdu is joined to cell culture or in vivo injection, in the use
of anti-Brdu monoclonal antibody, ICC staining, the proliferating cells will be indicated.
At the same time, combined with other cell makers, it could used to determine the type
of proliferation cells, proliferation rate by double staining. It is very important in the
research of cytodynamics.Four kinds of cell proliferation maker are commonly used:
Brdu (5-bromo-2--deoxyuridine), DNA polymerase α,PCNA （Proliferating cell nuclear antigen）
and Ki-67. Due to the none-existence of endogenous Brdu in tissue cells, Brdu is widely used.
