1. Hot Rolled Steel

1) Hot-Rolled Steel for General Structures

General structural steel and welding structural steel are used in the construction of steel structures, bridges, ships and automobiles.

2) Atmospheric Corrosion Resistant Steel

This type of steel enhances in both corrosion and atmospheric corrosion resistant properties, adding such special elements as P, Cu, and C, and is used in the manufacturing of containers, special automobiles and construction structures.

3) Hot-Rolled Steel for Automobile Structural Uses

This high-strength steel has a good weldability and is used in automobile frames, members, and wheel disks.

4) Hot-Rolled Carbon Steel for Pipes and Tubes

This steel, excellent in weldability and formability, is widely used in structural pipes, general pipes, special pipes, and machine structural carbon steel pipe.

5) Hot-Rolled Steel for Gas Cylinders

This steel, which have high strength and good formability, is used in high-pressure gas container with less than a 500l inner capacity containing LPG, acetylene and other high-pressure gases.

6) Steel for Casting and Tubing of Oilwell Pipes

This type of steel is characterized by a strict quality of high strength, extremely low temperature toughness, excellent weldability and fracture resistance, and is used in drilling and producing in severely cold areas, or for deep sea oilwells.

7) Steel for Line Pipes

This steel excels in high strength, extremely low temperature toughness, hydrogen induced crack resistance and weldability, and is thus used in line pipes.

8) Steel for Special Uses

This steel includes general machine structural steel, alloy steel and steel for tools and used for various machine parts.

9) Steel for cold-rolled steel

This steel is used to manufacture cold rolled steel, galvanized steel and electro galvanized and color steel sheet.

10) Hot-Rolled Steel for Hull Structures

This steel has received approval for its manufacturing process from overseas classification societies. A, B, and D grade products are used in shipbuilding and are excellent in weldability and shock resistance.

11) Hot-Rolled Steel for Machine Structures

Carbon tool and spring steel are produced to be used in such special applications as saws, washers, tapelines and springs that require good hardenability and fatigue resistance.

2. Steel Plate

TMCP is the process of rolling and accelerated cooling (PILAC) to produce high tensile steel without heat treatment, which means by adding small amount of alloy, high strength and superior tenacity are obtained and reduction of carbon equivalents (CEQ) provides better performance in use of welding by the customers. 

1) Steel for Ships

 Classification general steel, high tension steel and TMCP-type high-tension steel, with which heat input high-efficiency welding is possible, have all obtained manufacturing approval from overseas classification societies. This steel is widely used in shipbuilding.

2) Steel for Automobile Structural Uses

Steel excellent in bending and deep drawing is used in automobile structures.

3) Steel for General Structures

The Steel for general welding structures, bridges, industrial structures has high weldability and is widely used in machines and construction materials. High tension steel the 60kg class is produced after heat treatment process of quenching & tempering.

4) Atmospheric Corrosion Resistant Steel

Such atmospheric corrosion resistant elements as Cu, Cr, and Ni are added to structural steel to increase both weather and corrosion resistance. This type of steel is classified into coated and non-coated steels.

5) Steel for Machine Structural Uses

Steel excellent in machinability and abrasion resistance is used in the production of mechanical parts.

6) Medium-to-High & Intermediate Temperature Steel

Steel excellent in workability and weldability, and both heat and corrosion resistant, is used for gas ball tanks, LPG tanks, petroleum and liquefied materials storage tanks, and fire power generation boilers.

7) Steel for Transporting Petroleum

This steel is used in line pipes that transport petroleum or natural gas in large quantities. Steel proven with extremely low-temperature toughness, hydrogen-induced crack(HIC) resistance and stress-corrosion crack(SSC) resistance is produced in order to cope with the worsening environmental situation stemming from exhaustion of our natural resources.

8) Steel for Marine Structural Uses

Steel with lamellar tear resistance is used in oil drilling ships and crude oil production platforms. This type of steel has improved ductility in thickness direction as well as lowtemperature toughness.

9) Steel for Low Temperature Pressure Vessels

Ni is added to this type of steel, giving it excellent lowtemperature toughness and corrosion resistance. This type of steel is used in LNG tanks and liquefied gas storage tanks

3. Wire Rod

In order to improve the surface quality of wire rods, the surfaces of the materials, billets, are descaled by shot blasting. And after inspecting any surface flaw and imperfection by a magnetic particle tester, the flaws are removed from the surface by using a grinding machine. In addition, the continuous ultrasonic testing is conducted to guarantee the internal quality of the billets.

4. Cold Rolled Steel

All POSCO mills have adopted PCM(Pickling & Tandem Cold Rolling Mill) type which make continuous processing from pickling and cold-rolling process possible. Steel sheet that has undergone this line are then forwarded as pickled coils or used as material for hot-dip galvanized steel sheet.

 5. Galvanized Steel

It is the equipment that applies zinc plating by dipping a sheet of hot-rolled steel into a molten zinc pot so as to be coated with zinc deposits.

6. Electrical Galvanized Steel

There are plating facilities of Horizontal type and Casosel type. The horizontal type is moving horizontally in the plating bath and both faces are plating at the same time and produces double faced plating materials not generating band mark. And the carosel type can produces a product which is proper to the customer's requirements such like coating ability, corrosion resistance ability through free control of plating quantity - one side, deflection, double faced plating etc. - by one side by one side plating, steel plate rotating with adhesion to conductor roll. Producible plating kinds are Pure-Zn, Zn-Fe, Zn-Ni, heterogeneity plating And also recently, the production quantity of environment familiar steel plate is increasing with demand increasing, which is not coated with Cr.

7. Electrical Steel

This mill provides the internal energy needed for efficient grain growth by rolling steel plates up to the target gauge. This minimizes eddy current loss while in use after the manufacturing of iron core.

8. Stainless Steel

The main raw materials, Ferro-Alloys(Fe-Cr, Fe-Ni) and stainless steel Scrap are melted in the Electro Arc Furnace(EAF). The material steel is refined for the properties of steel for the application through the vacuum with gas or decarbonization, deoxidization and desulfurization.

9.Titanium Product

Combining our world-best manufacturing technology in steel & stainless steel, POSCO is now producing titanium products of the highest quality. In addition, POSCO will complete the vertical integration to slab production by 2013, and this will provide our customers with more reliable supply of titanium product.
