Product Information
TGfloc Series - Retention & Drainage Aids
TGsys series are a colloidal silica sol for microparticle retention program.
In the usual microparticle systems, polymers such as modified starch, guar gum, or polyacrylamide are combined with an anionic particle such as colloidal silica, alumina, and/or bentonite. In the standard application, the cationic polymer is introduced first and flocculates the fibers and fillers by bridging. After a shear stage where the flocs are redispersed, the anionic nano- or microparticle is added to reflocculate the furnish components to give very small, dense, and shear-resistant flocs. The flocs reformed after shear-induced dispersion are smaller and more compact than that produced from single polymer retention system. (Fig. 1)
Figure 1. Schematic showing the initial adsorption and bridging flocculation of a cationic polymer (high molecular weight starch or synthetic polymer) and, after the shearing stage, the reflocculation by an anionic microparticle.
Advantages obtained from the colloidal silica systems include improved retention, drainage and strength properties with good formation.
In the microparticle retention system, the very large number of silica particles allows a large number of contacts with the starch molecules. The flocculation was complete within a few second.

3. Heath and Safety
Toxicity, caused by TGsys series products alone and when incorporated into papers and paperboards, has not been reported so far. However, since TGsys series are acidic, contact with the solution should be avoided. When exposed to the emulsions and its solutions, wash with fresh water immediately.

- Company introduction
-
Taegwang Chemicals Co., Ltd. is a leader in the development and production of paper additives in Korea. Started out as Taegwang Chemicals Company in 1982 which was our first step into paper chemicals industry, we have been growing and expanding ever since. In 1987, we re-established as Taegwang Chemicals Co., Ltd. with our accumulated technological know-how and expertise to fulfill our customers' needs and meet their requirements.
Our success has been resulted from continuous and thriving effort in development and improvement of our products while accumulating new and advanced technologies. It is no wonder that we, Taegwang, are the first in Korea to develop and supply alkaline sizing agents (AKD emulsion size) which contributes cost reduction and environmental impacts as well as improvements of quality for paper industry in Korea.
Since 1987, Taegwang has been providing technical aids to paper industries, which converted for alkaline papermaking, and Taegwang is now recognized as the leader in technology for alkaline papermaking in Korea. Our major product lines are AKD SIZING AGENTS, ROSIN-BASED SIZING AGENTS, FIXING AGENTS, WET- & DRY-STRENGTH AGENTS, DYE FIXING AGENTS, RETENTION AIDS (PROGRAMS), and ANIONIC TRASH CATCHERS.
We will not stop here, but continually thrive and step forward until we become a leader in the world-wide paper chemicals industry.
