It contains 1-deoxynojirimycin(DNJ), which is produced through the fermentation of bacillus subtilis mori, a patented fermentation bacteria traditionally used in Korea. This is a special medicinal food that can be readily eaten by diabetic patients.

• DNJ is an effective natural ingredient that inhibits the growth of enzymes involved in the absorption of glucose by the small intestine, thereby reducing the chances of a sharp increase in the postprandial blood glucose level, and consequently delaying the absorption of glucose by the blood vessels.
• The strain that is used in the fermentation process is the patented Bacillus subtilis MORI-91, which produces DNJ.

The blood glucose level decreased in the group that took derivatives of fermented DANG 100 for one month an then received oral glucose, compared with the diabetes-induced and the mulberry-leaf-intake groups.
