Deep water makes skin soft and resilient. In order to survey the effect of deep water on skin, Shu Uemura Cosmetics Research Institute cultured fibroblast (a cell producing protein called collagen that is associated with skin resilience or moistness) and malignant melanoma cells in a cultural solution to which deep water had been added.

The experiment showed that the activity of fibroblast was increased while that of malignant melanoma was restrained. The result indicates that deep water has an effect in preventing skin aging.
