1 Magic Film Functions

Magic Film is an advanced product that can instantaneously switch from a transparent state to an opaque state through application of electricity. Magic Film features two sheets of film that sandwich liquid crystals. Applying electricity to the film rearranges the crystal molecules, allowing light to pass through the film.

3 Magic Film Structure & Mechanism

Magic Film Features two sheets of conductive film that have been coated with liquid crystals and high polymers using the latest film production technology. In the Off state, the stick-shaped liquid crystal molecules stay aligned along the walls of the capsule that encase them. The light that enters Magic Film is refracted by the capsule surface inside the film, due to the difference between the high polymers' and the liquid crystals' indices of refraction.

The dispersion of the light that enters the film creates an opaque vies. When the power is turned on, however, the liquid crystal molecules align themselves parallel to direction of the applied electricity. Careful engineering ensures that the molecules will align themselves perpendicular to the electrical leads and will effectively make equal the refraction indices of the high polymers and the liquid crystals. The equal refraction indices mean capsule surfaces will be eliminated and light will be allowed to pass without any refraction. In other words, the film will become totally transparent.
