Indigo (Indigofera Tinctoria) is a 100% pure herbal plant which gives deep blue color . Arabic and Urdu language name of Indigo is WASMA. Original high class Indigo when used in starting gives deep green color but after 24 to 48 hours it changes the color and becomes deep blue. The secret of judging the high class Indigo is from its deep blue color and if it is not giving deepness then that means it is of low quality.

The history of this plant is very old. Earlier people tend to use this plant for fabric dye and for medicine purpose only but now a wide variety of its uses and purposes are known. Indigo consists of the genus Indigofera, of the family Palionoideae.  Indigo is stimulated and purgative. It is an antiseptic and an astringent.

• The fully grown plant is cut and soaked in tanks of length 14ft and breadth 14ft depth 2 ½ feet.
• After 18 hours of soaking, the green color of the leaves comes out of the leaves and lies mixed with water. This leaves-extract along with the water is led into another tank of similar dimensions and oxidized by agitating the green water by kicking.
• This manual process continues for about 1 hour to one and a half hour, By then, the green leaf extract turns blue in color and thickens noticeably. This thick Gravy is transferred into a copper vessel and boiled at a high temperature for one hour. then it is poured into moulds.
