Valiantx PurrAir, a home air purifier

KITA has operated online exhibitions by product category and theme, using IT-based contents to help venture companies enter the overseas market. 

This year marks the third year since the first exhibition held in 2019. KITA has helped venture companies with their marketing activities based on their respective business situations and our experience over the past two years. We have supported them through three programs based on their needs as follows: Track 1 program is focused on online marketing, Track 2 program launches influencer marketing, and Track 3 program supports the crowdfunding campaign. Valiantx applied for Track 3 crowdfunding program of the our online exhibition business. The company was evaluated as a very promising company with a 73.2% increase in sales in one year. The company also has a successful history of domestic funding, so the company was selected for this project with a high score.

This year, KITA has worked again with Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Makuake, which are crowdfunding service providers. In the beginning, Valiantx chose to raise funds on Kickstarter, a U.S.-based funding platform, in an attempt to enter the American market.  However, they were able to launch the crowdfunding project earlier on Makuake, the largest 

crowdfunding platform in Japan, and since Japan also had a bigger cat market, they ultimately chose Makuake, after much consideration with KITA. Makuake is the biggest crowdfunding service provider in Japan, founded in 2013. It is also one of the major crowdfunding companies in the global funding market. Makuake is a subsidiary of an IT company, CyberAgent, and the company name means “to start a new business” or “to pull the curtains” in the spirit of entrepreneurship. The crowdfunding system is spreading in Japan and more Korean companies are raising funds on Makuake, targeting the Japanese market.

Valiantx first made a promotional video to be used on Makuake, and launched a funding campaign between August 9 and September 27, 2021. Their product is an air purifier used next to a litter box, but it can also be used in a wide variety of interior spaces. The petit model can be used up to 28 hours after being fully charged, and this has received an enthusiastic reception in Japan, where many people raise cats and tend to be sensitive to hygiene and odor. KITA has provided diverse ad support, including video ads on Facebook and a landing page on the crowd-fuding platform. 

With this product that is well-suited to the Japanese market and with the various support from KITA, Valiantx has surpassed the initial goal of raising JPY 100,000 by 289-fold, raising JPY 28,925,500 (USD 258,690.78) instead. Valiantx received funds from 2,798 people and the Valiantx page has reached 256 comments and 301 likes from Japanese customers. The overwhelming success of the crowdfunding project has made Valiantx an official member of KITA, and the company is reportedly preparing to launch another crowdfunding project in the U.S. market in November. We look forward to Valiantx’s success in their second crowdfunding.
